This is the very first piece in the series. It's a picture of my cat Harvey.  At the time, I was studying pencil art portraiture and still life. I was looking for a subject to draw, and thought it would be fun to do Harvey in a suit. In the style of old Victorian anthropomorphic pictures. I never designed it to become a collection at the time. But this is the one that started it all, that's for sure.

Harvey the entertainer

Meet Harvey Parvaye, a talented and popular Vaudevillian stage actor of the early 20th century. Harvey moved to England from his native France as the youngest member of a family theater troupe called ‘The Fabulous Parvayes’. But even as a little part main coone kitten, he was destined for greatness.

Known affectionately as ‘Baby Harvey,’ this young feline was integral to his family's performances. But his talent and star quality soon outshone his family's act, and Harvey went solo. He became a sensation, touring extensively and performing in several short talkie films. 'A Cat About Town,' 'Baby Harvey in the Big City,' and 'Baby Harvey Goes West.'

After years of success, Harvey settled in a quaint cottage in Northern Idaho with his wife, Mary, and their two teenage cats, Sidney and Erica. Later, he enjoyed life's simple pleasures, like fishing, painting, and playing the violin. But his legacy lived on, and his performances are still remembered as some of the best in Vaudeville history.

Illustrated in the style of a vintage Edwardian or Victorian photograph. This image is part of my 'Anicurio®' collection. Each original illustration is carefully hand-drawn in pencil. Once finished, I hand age and treat them with various dye methods, to resemble an old dusty antique photograph. I want this series to suggest something that was rediscovered by you. An inherited artifact from a mysterious benefactor? Or perhaps revealed in a long abandoned attic, lying at the bottom of a chest. Buried beneath old dusty clothes and fading hand written notes.
