Tommy and Cecily Tenpole - A Love Story

Tommy Tenpole, a spirited young rat, was exploring the world with his loyal companion,Bertie' Sailor Duck' Higgins. Tommy and Bertie, both hailing from Britain, crossed paths while serving onHMS Fenton, a royal navy frigate tasked with escort duties around the Strait of Gibraltar.

Bertie was a duck, Tommy was a water rat, but together, they soon became inseparable
friends.

Meanwhile, Cecily Doris Trent grew up in a small family in Derbyshire, England. Like her mother before her, Cecily was a seamstress. Her best friend, Betty Cloome,
was a factory worker. By 1880, Cecily and Betty were able to save all their spare money
for a trip to Germany along the river Rhine. It was here, in a crowded, bustling tavern, that they both met their future husbands, Bertie' Sailor Duck' Higgins and Tommy
Tenpole.

The four friends remained inseparable throughout their lives. Tommy became anunderbutler to a household in Biddulph Grange, and Cecily a draper for a large, local
dressmaker and fabric supplier. They would continueto go on little holidays whenever their funds allowed. Eventually, this became impractical as their familiesgrew. But they continued to meet socially at each other's homes for game nights, parties, and other social events.

Together, they brought eleven little rats into the world, each one a testament to their enduring love and the joy they found in each other.

Illustrated in the style of a vintage Edwardian or Victorian photograph. This image is part of my 'Anicurio®' collection. Each original illustration is carefully hand-drawn in pencil. Once finished, I often hand-age them and treat them with various dye methods to resemble an old dusty antique photograph. I want this series to suggest something that you rediscovered. An inherited artifact from a mysterious benefactor? Or perhaps revealed in a long abandoned attic, lying at the bottom of a chest. Buried beneath old dusty clothes and fading handwritten notes.
