'The Chumsticks'

In 1911, the Chumsticks moved to Post Falls, Idaho. They were not just seeking a new home but were responding to an invitation to regenerate the area's declining beaver population. In recognition of their commitment, they were granted their own dam and a small patch of personal riverfrontage.

Chester Chumstick, the household's father, became a building inspector in the local beaver community. It was a position which he held with pride. He was entrusted to ensure that all the little beaver dams were up to code and structurally sound.

Here, you can see young Daniel ' Danny' Chumstick, his face lit up with anticipation as he gathers freshly hewn logs for their new home. His older sister, Pearl, looks slightly more serious but secretly is just as excited at their new beginning in Post Falls, Idaho.

Deep within their new home, the Chumstick family work in harmony. Mr. Chester Chumstick meticulously packed the sticks, twigs, rushes, and grass to construct their cozy, damp den. Meanwhile, Mrs. Lillian Chumstick will be busy folding clothes, tidying the chambers, and preparing a hearty supper for the hungry beavers.

Alas, Mr. Chumstick never quite finished their home, though. He loved the process of building so much that he was of the opinion that if he ever finished it, then they would have to move and start all over again.
