This original oil painting and prints, are of an image I've carried in my head since childhood.
But It returned in a very vivid dream a few years ago, and I could see every detail of this painting in my dream. I just kept studying it. Every aspect was crystal clear. Very strange.
I knew I was dreaming but I was able to stay there with the image. I also knew it was to be a painting. It's remarkable when I think about it, considering how fleeting dreams usually are, and how quickly they fade when you awake. to be allowed to study it. Every detail. It was like it wanted me to paint it.
So, I finally finished it. It took me a year to paint. I kept walking away and leaving it. Looking at it and coming back again to add or correct things.
I call it "All the lonely people" because, as a child, I think I was somehow affected by the Beatles "Eleanor Rigby'. The image I had as a child, whenever listening to it, was very similar to this painting. Why it came back to me as an adult, and in this form remains a bit of a mystery.
