Hubert Grindle

If you were a bear and you lived in Anchorage, Alaska, you would most likely visit the icy cold mountain streams. There, you would find some of the best salmon you could ever wish for. But, however enticing it is to spend all day filling your large, furry belly and then sleeping away the afternoon, it wouldn't prove very productive.

Unlike his ancestors of old, Hubert needed to pay rent, buy clothes, socialize, and generally live as his civilized bear peers had been doing for hundreds of years.

Oh, how Hubert wished it wasn't so. But so, it was indeed. After a long afternoon of catching, feeding, and snoring, Hubert carefully but reluctantly gathered his folded clothes, coat, and Bowler hat. He re dressed. And giving a large sigh, mounted his bicycle, whistled a tune, and rode, somewhat wobbly, back along the old dirt road and into town.

Illustrated in the style of a vintage Edwardian or Victorian photograph. This image is part of my 'Anicurio' collection. Each original illustration is carefully hand drawn in pencil. Once finished, I often hand age and treat them with various dye methods, to resemble an old dusty antique photograph. I want this series to suggest something that was rediscovered by you. An inherited artifact from a mysterious benefactor? Or perhaps revealed in a long abandoned attic, lying at the bottom of a chest. Buried beneath old dusty clothes and fading hand written notes.
