This is the very first piece in the series. It's a picture of my cat Harvey. At the time, I was studying pencil art portraiture and still life. I was looking for a subject to draw, and thought it would be fun to do Harvey in a suit. In the style of old Victorian anthropomorphic pictures. I never designed it to become a collection at the time. But this is the one that started it all, that's for sure.
Illustrated in the style of a vintage Edwardian or Victorian photograph. This image is part of my 'Anicurio®' collection. Each original illustration is carefully hand drawn in pencil. Once finished, I hand age and treat them with various dye methods, to resemble an old dusty antique photograph. I want this series to suggest something that was rediscovered by you. An inherited artifact from a mysterious benefactor? Or perhaps revealed in a long abandoned attic, lying at the bottom of a chest. Buried beneath old dusty clothes and fading hand written notes.

Biography of this little cat:
Harvey Parvaye was a popular Vaudevillian stage actor of the early 20th century. He emigrated to England from his native France. A young kitten, part main coone, just 6 years old. He came as part of a family theater troupe called ‘The Fabulous Parvayes’. Too young to perform at the time, ‘Baby Harvey’ as he was affectionately known, later grew to be an integral part of the family act.
His popularity as an actor, singer and dancer, eventually outgrew his family commitment. A young 16 year old Harvey went solo. Retaining the lifelong moniker of ‘Baby Harvey’. He soon found individual fame in his solo venture. He would tour extensively throughout the UK and Europe. Even performing a short tour of the north western regions of the United States.
When moving pictures arrived, Baby Harvey made the transition effortlessly. Appearing in several short talkie films, such as ‘A cat about town’, ‘Baby Harvey in the big city’, and ‘Baby Harvey goes west’.
Eventually, Harvey settled down in a modest cottage in Northern Idaho, USA. He now enjoys the more sedate lifestyle of fishing, painting. and playing the violin. He shares his home with his long term wife Mary, and their two teenage cats Sidney and Erica.
